In the afternoon, visit Asti, the capital of Monferrato, famous for being the city of 100 towers: here you can find many churches including the largest Gothic cathedral in Piemonte. In the morning, visit Piazza San Carlo, Via Roma, Piazza Castello, Palazzo Madama and Palazzo Reale, the Egyptian Museum and the splendid monuments that make Turin one of the most elegant and refined cities in Europe. Free lunch. In the afternoon, panoramic bus tour through the historical streets and unexplored corners of the city. Return to the Hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning dedicated to a guided tour of the Royal Palace and Park of Venaria Reale, one of the 17th and 18th century palaces left in Europe. Stop at the Court of Honour where you can admire the Water Theatre of the Deer Fountain and the royal apartments of Vittorio Emanuele II. Visit to the Castello della Mandria, which constitutes the residential complex with its splendid rooms full of tapestries, paintings, sculptures and furniture. Finally it will be possible to see the Juvarriana stable, a splendid example of 18th century European Baroque. Inside the Scuderia there is the Bucintoro, the only example of Venetian golden galley left in the world. From here, you will visit the monumental gardens of the Venaria, World Heritage Site, an extraordinary combination of historical finds and contemporary works by famous artists. Free lunch. Breakfast at the Hotel. Departure to discover Sacra di San Michele, the place that seems to have inspired Umberto Eco for his novel “The Name of the Rose”. We start from the “Stairway of the Dead” (so called because in the central niche until 1936 some skeletons of monks were kept in it), crossing the “Gate of the Zodiac” and arriving to the “Tower of Bell’Ada”. From here you can admire a splendid view of the valley and the ancient Via Francigena. Lunch in a farmhouse. In the afternoon, discover with the guide the history, traditions and creations of the talented chocolate masters of Turin tasting hot chocolate, gianduiotto and the famous bicerin, sublime hot drink made with coffee, chocolate and milk cream.
